In November this Short Eared owl was admitted into our hospital from the Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital with a wing injury. After several months of rehabilitation and convalescing it was BTO rung and has been released back to its former location. A great success story for a rare species.
A big thank you to Mark Grantham who came out to BTO ring the Short-eared owl & a few other owls. We do this so if they are ever found again the British Trust of Ornithology will contact us & we can all learn a lot from this. We also managed to sex the Short-eared as a female!
