WEEKLY NEWS UPDATE No 1
SANCTUARY WEEKLY NEWS UPDATE
On a regular basis we plan to report progress against our six core values. These values are: –
Rehabilitation; Conservation; Education; Research; Community; and Environment.
This week we are reporting on Community Engagement. As the new owners of the Sanctuary one of our objectives is to engage with and support our local community. We will, in particular, seek out opportunities to assist those operating in the fields of conservation, education or charitable endeavours.
During January we were able to provide support, via gifts, donations or sponsorship, to the following local groups and charities: –
Cornwall Hospice Care; St Austell Heavy Transport Social Club; St Austell Rugby Club – Under 9s; St Austell Synchronised Swimming Club; St Erme Messy Munchkins pre-school Group; Sticker Bingo; Treliske Hospital Children’s Ward; Treliske Hospital Neonatal Unit; Treliske Hospital Playroom; and Trevithick Learning Academy.
Although we are a not-for-profit organisation, with limited funds, we will continue to support local community groups where we can. However, the number of requests we are currently getting for support greatly exceeds what we can offer. Going forward, we will keep requests for support until the end of the month, when our staff and volunteers will choose a number of organisations for us to help. We appreciate that this will disappoint some, but we cannot afford to support everyone – and do not want to decline all requests.
