We recently received an email from the Avian Ecophysiology Unit, Department of Vertebrate Ecology and Zoology, University of Gdańsk in Poland.
They are conducting research on the discovery of new mechanisms governing the inheritance of mitochondrial DNA in birds, a subject on which very little research has been made to this day
We have sent owl breast feathers from 17 different species to run the analysis and assist with this very important research project which helps to distinguish species and sub-species of owls.
We work closely with many Organisations all over the world assisting with research, last year we provided information to Frankfurt Zoo in Germany who were conducting a study on the longevity of owls in captivity. As some of know we have had some VERY long living owls here at Screech over the years.
